From the 1st to 8th August 2018, at the Nane Nane celebrations, SAGCOT Centre Ltd partners will be under one pavilion to provide information on challenges, opportunities, and information on how to increase the productivity of crops and livestock value chains, and show farmers’ contribution to value addition and industrialization in Tanzania.
This is an opportunity for agriculture stakeholders to learn, firsthand, the best practices to improve their yields and to learn how they can contribute to the implementation of the SAGCOT initiative. Throughout the week, SAGCOT Partners in the public and private sector will conduct workshops on crop insurance, food quality, improved agricultural inputs, taxation, soil health, and agribusiness for various crops, including sunflower, potatoes, dairy among others.
The 4 and 5 August will see SAGCOT CEO, Geoffrey Kirenga, and Dutch Ambassador to Tanzania, His Excellency, Jeroen Verheul, visiting various agribusinesses and farmers in Mbeya region.
On 7 August, SAGCOT Centre Ltd will host a partner’s networking dinner to share the progress of the SAGCOT implementation.
As a culmination of the celebrations as an effort to continually grow the SAGCOT potato value chain through the development of the Center for Development of the Potato Industry in Tanzania (CD-PIT). On 8 August, 2018, the Government of Tanzania represented by the Permanent Secretary, Eng. Mathew J. Mtigumwe Ministry of Agriculture, and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands represented by the Dutch Ambassador to Tanzania, His Excellency, Jeroen Verheu will sign a Memorandum of Understanding to finalise the process of development of the Potato Industry in Tanzania.
Nane Nane 2018 is an agricultural extravaganza like never before with lots to learn, share and experience as we work collectively to see the fruition of the SAGCOT Initiative.
