Dear Partners,

It’s astonishing how fast 2017 has gone!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all, for your support from the commencement of this journey! 2017 has been an extremely productive year for SCL, with numerous milestones achieved which would not have been possible without your support!

  1. After tireless dedication and grit, our initial board successfully handed over to a new board. The new board now has the baton with the energy and stamina to propel this journey further. Please join me in welcoming this new team. Karibu Sana!
  2. We have launched a new Cluster; the Mbarali Cluster based in the Mbeya and Songwe regions. We look forward to cooperating with you all to see a vibrant Mbarali Cluster.
  3. For the first time ever we had the Parliamentary Committee responsible for Agriculture, Livestock and Water visit the Corridor among many other missions we have had in the year. The presence and attention they provided to our partners demonstrated the government’s keenness to engage and listen to agricultural stakeholders to explore new opportunities and strive to remove bottlenecks.
  4. We had a fruitful annual forum which attracted more than 500 participants with 300 participating in the learning journeys to Ihemi and Mbarali Clusters. We still receive moving testimonies from many of our partners who engaged closely with the participants.
  5. Nane Nane events in Mbeya were another great success. SAGCOT and Partners not only participated but also together, emerged overall winners for the Southern Highlands regions. We have continued to bear witness to our strength which is in our partnership.

With all the success, the SCL family did have to sadly bid farewell to our dearest Deputy CEO; Jennifer Baarn, who will be missed dearly.

As we look to 2018, here are a few things we look forward to in great anticipation:
1. We shall be strengthening our capacity to meet the needs of our partners in Ihemi and Mbarali Clusters.

  1. We will also keep our partners updated and informed with regular updates, as we launch our brand new website!

Once again, I thank you all for making this year a great success, and I wish you all the very best during this festive season! Here’s to a prosperous 2018!

With warm regards,
Geoffrey Kirenga
Chief Executive Officer
